Lauren & Josh

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

It came as no surprise that this wedding would get published in The Knot. Lauren & Josh had delightful dreams about their wedding day and we were thrilled to help make it happen for them. This wedding was all about the food — the decor, the wine, the seating cards — everything was based on the European way of entertaining friends and family. Max Hansen Caterer did an an amazing job of giving them all they wanted. Beautiful Blooms was, as usual, open to all the twists and turns. And Appleford was the perfect setting for this very unique and beautiful wedding.

I can’t tell you how many hours we spents searching for all the right ceramics and vessels for this extraordinary event. Lauren’s mantra was “crusty bread.” We all laugh about it now, but it truly was the inspiration for a great party that was all about hospitality and warmth and love. And Josh was the epitome of a hands-on groom — with great taste! We loved these guys — and truly miss them! This romantic wedding was the perfect reflection of this great couple

When GOOD things happen to GOOD people

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I met Donna O’Brien of Beautiful Blooms about three and a half years ago when I was starting the process of planning my own wedding.   I interviewed about ten florists but couldn’t find that special someone who understood what I meant when I said — “flowers are secondary, I want centerpieces with elements!”  But Donna’s eyes lit up when I presented my little challenge and off we went.   Since then, I have worked with Beautiful Blooms far too many times to count.

Donna has successfully built a team of people at Beautiful Blooms who are just like her —  each painfully talented, tenacious about their jobs and so willing to go waaaayyyy beyond the call!   The studio is crazy most of the time — each event is the ONLY event.   Each client is the ONLY client.   It’s amazing what goes on in that brick and cement warehouse in Northern Liberties.   Its scares me sometimes — always a gush of creativity everywhere and and a flurry of activity from the perfectionists that make up the Beautiful Blooms team.

All this to say — Donna, Bill, Maya, Amanda, Keith, Teri and Alaine and all of the other Beautiful Blooms guys got exactly what they deserved.

THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTELY

BEST IN PHILLY 2008

More than words

I just discovered a little fun website that creates word splashes in geometric patterns and great colors. Off the top of my head, I can think of a hundred applications for this. (Like I need something else to play with!)

Victoria & Jamie in The Knot

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY, VICTORIA & JAMIE!

Victoria & Jamie’s wedding took place a little over a year ago on her family’s drop-dead gorgeous restored farmhouse situated on acres of rolling green hills.    There simply is no better setting for a wedding anywhere.   Victoria’s vision for her wedding was inspired by the designs of Kelly Wearstler — elegant, minimalist and utterly chic.     Add in this totally striking couple and you have an irresistible wedding for The Knot.

The scrumptious food, created by Callahan Catering was impeccably presented.  The absolutely beautiful photography is by none other than the well-known Barnaby Draper.   And Philadelphia’s own Dreamtime did a fantastic job — as usual.   Awesome band for a dancing crowd!

If you go into Eclatante’s Extraordinary Events page and click on “Dream Chic at Home,” you’ll get to see more of this stunning affair.  So worth the extra clicks.

By the way, Victoria has her own fashion line known as Proxima.   Of course it is fabulous — stylish, sexy and fun — just like Victoria!

Oh, and, if you want to get a better look at the farmhouse and the surrounding property where this all took place, take a look at these photos from the Summer 2008 issue of Town & Country Living (Montgomery County) featuring the Schriver’s beautiful home.   See what I mean???   Unbelievable!

This one definitely goes in “the book.”

I’m sure you can see how Victoria’s incredible sense of style and this gorgeous setting came together as the backdrop for a wedding no one will ever forget.   There was even a beautiful full moon illuminating the pond and hovering over the tent.   [Deep sigh]   What a night.

In Living Color…

This year’s wedding season was incredible!    We were honored to be part of some amazing celebrations. Now that things have mellowed out just a little, we can take a breath and spend some time writing it all down to share with all of you.   Whew!!!    We made it to July!!!

We’ll start with Emelia & Jay’s wedding.

This was one absolutely DELIGHTFUL couple.   A pure joy to be around.   Sometimes we just fall in love with the people we get to work with — and this was definitely one of those times!

From the moment the bride stepped onto the purple carpet out of her limo into the gorgeous Greek Orthodox Church dripping in gold accents, this wedding was something truly special.   After the richly traditional Greek ceremony, the guests were treated to a remarkable reception at Appleford  in Villanova, PA.

During the cocktail hour, the guests were free to roam in and out of three distinct areas each with its own unforgettable features.  The first area provided guests with luxurious chaise lounges and beautiful dupioni silk pillows at which they were served delicious signature drinks with matching straws. The second area featured a fountain spilling with lush flowers and romantic music.  The third area featured a raw bar lover’s dream – three types of oysters, scallop cerviche and jumbo blue crab claws, among other delicacies displayed in an elaborate architectural design brought to life in ice then accented with submerged tulips in glass vases.   Each of these areas was trimmed with linens and flowers specifically chosen to compliment the ambiance of each area.

Upon entering the dinner tent, the guests were dazzled by the array of pinks and purples everywhere.  Each of the 180+ colorful Chinese lanterns hanging in the dinner tent was carefully chosen and placed to compliment the tables beneath.  The table tops were stunning –  lush mixes of hot pink phalenopsis, magenta peonies,  pink tulips and purple hydrangea that complimented table linen topped with lavender dupioni silk.

This is one wedding we will not soon forget!   The food by Max Hansen Caterer was incredible.  The team at Beautiful Blooms created their usual magnificent centerpieces.   Eventions did a phenomenal job at putting up the nearly 200 lanterns.  And that cake by  Truli Confectionary Arts was simply stunning!
