Rent Me!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

As many of you know, we have an amazing studio on Liberties Walk in the uber-chic section of Philadelphia known as Northern Liberties.  People just love it here — and so do we!!

Often, people stopped by to ask if we rent any of our space out for parties.  As the photos below show you, the answer is a resounding yes!   We’ve gotten enough requests now that I thought it was time to send a message to the world that if anyone would like to rent our studio out, we would be more than happy to make that happen.

If you need more space for a larger party, we can combine our space with the teaching studio at Beautiful Blooms Boutique as a kind of bundle where you could have both spaces and the Walk in between for an amazing party on the Walk.   Take a look at all the photos below to see how cool each possibility is.   The space rental fee includes the use of our incredible screens, too, where you can play a video of your own or watch a cool season finale or the World Series! Depending upon what configuration of space you choose to rent, your party could go anywhere from intimate (25 people) to 125 people.   The rental fee begins at $500 for a five hour event.

Give us a buzz if you’d like to talk about renting our little oasis.   We’ve had some incredible parties here!

The Red Dress Fashion Show, Part 2

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I’ve made you all wait FAR too long (sorry about that — it’s been a truly hectic couple of weeks!!) to enjoy Part 2 of the fabulous Red Dress Fashion Show that the American Heart Association put on on Eclatante’s and Beautiful Blooms’ our little piece of the planet as part of AHA’s 2010 Go Red for Women Campaign.

In Part 1, we introduced you to the event and the cast of amazing characters we had milling around here that day. Along with the gorgeous weather, more than 200 people were treated to a fantastic array of absolutely beautiful dresses designed and created by the extraordinarily talented women of the Philadelphia University’s fashion design program.   We were really blown away by their designs and their stories.

Thanks again to Heather Fowler for taking these great photos!

When we left off in Part 1, you saw the beautiful models lining up for the Fashion Show.   Bill Henley (of NBC10’s “the 10! Show”) was a great Master of Ceremonies.

From the very first dress, we were in love!

After the final walk, the judges deliberated on their choice for the runner up and the winner.

Heather took a great photo of all the models and the designers in the green room (a/k/a Heather's Studio) waiting for the judges' decisions

It was great anticipation, that the winners were announced

Third place went to this gorgeous dress:

Second place was awarded to this incredibly fun dress that I fell totally in love with:

And the winner is (drumroll, please)….

We had an absolutely wonderful time that night.   From the looks of it, so did everyone else.   I hope you enjoyed our first fashion show on our Walk (the first of many, I hope).

The Ladies of Eclatante and the Beautiful Blooms’ girls had WAY too much fun on this one.   I’m not sure we could really call it work!!!

L to R: Jeannie, Maggie, Sara, Kendall, Claire and Chrissy

L to R: Donna, Alicia, Lisa and Maggie

And be sure to check out The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign.  NOTHING is more important than a woman’s heart.

A Date with a Plate

Friday, May 14th, 2010

In late April, we introduced you all to the upcoming charity event known as Date with A Plate.  The event took place on the 4th & 5th of May and was just incredible. All of the designers and collectors who provided an insight into their interpretation of a fabulous table or entertainment scenario absolutely brought their A-game.  I do hope that a lot of you were able to make it out to see the amazing work that thrilled all of the guests. It was truly a feast for the eyes!!!

This year, the charity, known as the IMAJNZ Foundation –  which is the very innovative charity created by Judi Goodman and Sharyn Berman to support selected area charities – supported The Noreen O’Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research. It was an honor to step up for this particular charity as there is a history there for us.

We teamed up Beautiful Blooms to design and create our own interpretation of what would be a great night out with close friends. The inspiration began with a simple photo out of the January issue of InStyle Magazine.

And then the vision grew. We LOVED this beautiful combination of Sangria and White and decided that what we really needed to do was create wine and cheese party under the stars using this incredible contrast of colors. When we finally concluded what we were out to accomplish, we found the perfect name for our dining adventure:  ”Private Escape.”

Next came the ruffles –  which, until this year, I’ve never really found a place for in my heart. Now, suddenly, I LOVE THEM!  But not your grandmother’s ruffles, as you will soon see.

Beautiful Blooms has these awesome arbors created from beautiful wood beams.  We just had to use them!  Then we went in search of sangria colored ruffles, and WHITE ruffled plates.   No easy task, but a fun one nontheless!  And of course, being the detail crazies are, we lined everything out from drawings and measurements to make sure that our little plan would work.

Then, on the day of installation, the Beautiful Blooms and Eclatante teams carefully taped out the dimesions of our space, laid the the carpet, built the arbor, and carefully placed the linens and all of the other beautiful elements.

And here are the results!  These stunning photos were taken by David Mielcarek of CinematicbyDavidM.   He graciously agreed to shoot our display and we couldn’t have been more pleased.  His photos are wonderful!!!

People ADORED the ruffled chair backs and ruffled placemats. And so did we!

The chandelier is a phenomenal custom piece created out of square wine glasses.  Beautiful Blooms laced flowers all through the glassware.  The result was STUNNING!!!

Two Paper Dolls created the carefully designed Wine Tasting piece that explained the specific wine and cheese pairings to each guest.   Of course, choosing just the perfect wines was definitely one of the fun parts.

At the corners of the arbor, there were lovely large teardrop glass vases hung containing Japanese sweet peas, Japanese white long stem gloriosa lilies and white peonies.  It was a perfect softening touch.

We were so pleased to have Starr Events work with us. They created a gorgeous cheese and fruit platter and Frank’s Union Wine Mart helped us choose the perfect wine!  The wine and cheese pairings were absolutely amazing.

Thanks also go to Moore Events for lighting our display with uplights and pinspots. It truly made the difference by having this lighting installed.

The guests were thrilled to discover that this incredible “Private Escape” could be their reality — if they bid high enough!  Apparently, there was quite a little bidding war over our Private Escape.  We don’t know who won, but we can’t wait  recreate this look on Liberties Walk for one lucky winner and their friends.  Starr Events will create a lovely wine tasting menu for 8 and Frank’s Union Wine Mart will provide the wine for the event. What could be more wonderful than dining under the stars with great friends in their own “Pefect Escape.”

Our parting shots are the team photo!

Celebrating in Style™ 2009

Monday, November 16th, 2009

With the expert and indispensible help of the Beautiful Blooms team, Eclatante worked with the Dolls at Two Paper Dolls to create our very first Celebrating in Style™ event at the Dolls’ studio in Wayne.   We transformed the Dolls’ office into a great event space, the goal of which was to demonstrate to the great hosts of the Philadelphia area how we can help them throw an amazing party anytime, anywhere – not just weddings and other large scale social events. We actually planned five parties in one for our guests — each of which could be a great home party — and each one with its own interactive element!

Take a look at some of the fabulous photos taken by Mike Kehr and Jana Bannan at Mike Kehr Photography!  Thank you so much Mike and Jana!!

First up:  our wine and cheese pairing and tasting!   The expertly chosen wine was provided Frank’s Wine Mart.   Carl (from Frank’s) gave our willing guests advice on how to choose wine and cheese for their next home party.   Beautiful Blooms created gorgeous florals in rustic wood boxes.  The wine was divine and the cheese, provided by Provence Catering was to die for.   I could have hung out there all night, but there was much more to come!

Then we designed a simply gorgeous holiday dinner party with more scrumptious delights provided by Provence Catering.  Eclatante sought out and provided the perfect table settings in compliment to the painted table at Two Paper Dolls Studio.   Beautiful Blooms created the long table arrangement —  perfectly suited for a dinner table where you want to talk easily across the table to your guests.

Outside of the holiday dinner party room, Beautiful Blooms demonstrated the art of creating beautiful arrangements for your home.   People just loved it!

12

Moving along, we created a warm and wonderful yellow and grey baby shower that featured a stunning baby photo printed on large piece of fabric and hung over the gift table.   Laura Novak is an extraordinarily gifted photographer of beautiful babies and has created magic with her innovative ways of giving new parents the gift of a lifetime.  Beautiful Blooms filled vintage milk glass containers from Donna’s personal stash with a variety of carefully chosen flowers.  Look at how pretty the presents look in coordinating colored paper from Two Paper Dolls.

8

Next door to the Baby Shower was a very interesting birthday party designed by Maya of Beautiful Blooms and Leila of Eclatante.  With all of the buzz around the Twilight and True Blood series, these two good friends created a very special party based on an “ageless creatures” theme. What a perfect way to celebrate a birthday!

Beautiful Blooms created arrangements in sleek black glass vases from red, burgundy and deep eggplant colored flowers.   Along the perimeter of the room, we placed black wrought iron candle stands with deep eggplant pillar candles.   We also chose perfectly coordinated linens and drapery.   And look at that cake — Provence Catering caught the vision perfectly when they came up with this rich red cake with black lace sugar icing.   Gorgeous!

Craig Neier Associates provided a mind reader that people are still talking about!   How the heck did he know that stuff?!?!?!

7

6Craig Neier also provided a duo of musicians that were just wonderful,   We loved how they fit right in and helped create the perfect atmosphere for our very eclectic party!

5

Moving downstairs, we were able to give our guests quite a treat!   We created a fabulous 80’s-themed party as a great inspiration for a mitzvah or other fun celebrations of just about anything!

Craig Neier provided a super-fun 80’s trivia game that thrilled everyone for hours!

147

144

And there’s nothing quite like an 80’s theme photo shoot (by Mike Kehr Photography) to make a party a little on the crazy side.   Love that backdrop Taylor (of Eclatante) created for the occasion!

Picture 94

Finally, we come to the “Man Cave” where Scott from Two Paper Dolls showed our guests how the huge letterpress printer works.   Very very cool.

13

Then we had the greatest thing of all — Craig Neier Associates installed a real Craps table with real Craps dealers who taught everyone how the game is played and how to really have fun with it. That table was crowded all night long with people playing craps and having a fantastic time.

Picture 95

A truly GREAT time was had by all.   We just love love love a successful party!

July Color Story

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

In the heat of summer, we discovered a beautiful and peaceful retreat in the shade nestled in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania where we could drink cold lemonade and sweet iced tea and sit outside with great friends to celebrate one of life’s most important and beautiful rituals.

Reminiscent of the way things are done in the south, we brought in the illusion of cool temperatures with a blend of blues, silver and white to cool things down just a teeny bit.

Picture 224

Our wonderful team came together to create an absolutely beautiful, tasteful and classic celebration at the enchanting Elkins Estate which sits on 42 acres of graceful rolling hills among beautiful ponds and a tranquil retreat center.

Once again, our praise and thanks go out to Marie Labbancz, our wonderful friend and photographer who photographed this color story with her usual love and incredible gift of capturing exactly what makes each celebration unique and beautiful!

The story begins with the classic and tiny details reminiscent of the great parties hosted by gracious hosts back when Elkins Estate was built in the 1890s.   An acute attention (and love of ) the “little things” takes this celebration to a whole new level.

Picture 210

We LOVED this beautiful table and benches, place settings and linen provided by Party Rentals, Ltd.   These were the foundation of an incredible summer table!

Rian, the go-to lighting guy from Eventions caught our vision perfectly when he hung these great rustic tin stars from the wooden trellis above our dinner table.

Picture 211

The table was very tastefully decorated with centerpieces artfully created by the incredibly talented team at Beautiful Blooms.  The large, hand-wrapped moss balls you see here placed on top of tall cut crystal vases were wrapped in silver bullion wire.   Miniature white cymbidium orchids and cobalt blue delphinium florets were also attached to the silver bullion wire and strung from the large moss balls.  Also adorning the table were floret-size moss balls with crystal accents and gorgeous candleholders embedded with crystals provided by Beautiful Blooms.

Elkin-0362

Elkin-0405

We incorporated  the truly gracious details of times gone by (that we’d LOVE to see returned on the hospitable tables of hosts everywhere!)  These knife rests and salt cellars are classic and beautiful – guests are truly captivated by elements they may never have seen before.  But then, the blue and white chopsticks tucked into the napkins require no explanation.   All of these little elements are available at the Eclatante Boutique.

Elkin-0399

We also added a lovely vintage pewter two-tiered tray so that guests would have sweets at their fingertips all evening long.  And favors are presented to guests in very interesting and beautiful oragami paper boxes.   (The tray and the favor boxes are also available at the Eclatante Boutique.)

Now, take a look at Paula who was beautifully styled by Claudia Seyler (of Claudia Seyler Beauty).    Claudia chose the perfect gown (by Manuel Moto of the Pronovias Collection) from Jennifer’s Bridal in Hockessin, Delaware, then created a look with her dress, hair and makeup that was not only stunning, but perfectly suited for the occasion!   Finally, Beautiful Blooms created a lovely floral head-ring from moss, clear crystals and blue delphinium blooms.

Our beautiful bride carried a truly unique hand-wired bouquet of white mini-cymbidium orchids, blue delphinium orchids intertwined with moss loops, silver wire and clear crystals.

SHOOT!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

I know it’s been a while since we posted a Color Story.   Between our big move and one extremely busy wedding season, we just couldn’t find the time to do it right.   But finally, yesterday, we (Taylor, Alyssa and myself), along with Donna & Keith from Beautiful Blooms, Claudia Seyler from Claudia Seyler Beauty, Rian Winther from Eventions and of course, Marie Labbancz (our amazing photographer) joined forces to pull off our best photoshoot yet!

Our photoshoot for the next round of color-stories took place at the newly-opened Elkins Estate.   This place is amazing.  It was designed in the last decade of the 1800s and was built in Italy and France, then brought over here piece-by-piece.  The estate sits on 42-acres of gardens, rolling hills and ponds and was once the country sanctuary of Philadelphia entrepreneur William L. Elkins. In the 1930’s the Elkins family sold the retreat to the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de Ricci, who maintained the Estate as a women retreat for for 75 years.   Now, under the ownership of the Land Conservancy of Elkins Park (having been rescued from development and revived through delicate restoration efforts),  the Elkins Estate is a peaceful wellness retreat and a magnificent venue for all kinds of celebrations.

Picture 148

Because of its phenomenal grandeur and gorgeous unique spaces, we chose Elkins Estate as the host of this season’s photo shoot (covering the color stories for the months of July, August and September).  They were our extremely gracious and accommodating hosts and were a pure pleasure to work with!  We’ll be posting the first color story next week – I’m SO excited!

Here are some photos Leila snapped of the areas where our photoshoot took place — I guess you can think of them as “before” photos.

Picture 149  Picture 156 Picture 155 Picture 153

Without giving anything away, here is one of the final shots that Marie took after our long photo shoot ended (it was really hot!).   I think Rian (from Eventions) was just a little slap-happy from the long day of hard work and heat!

Picture 151

So, we’ll be posting July’s color story next week!  Stay tuned.

Angels amongst us

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

So, it’s not a big secret to those who know me — I’m a bit of a skeptic.  So, when some people (whom I trust, actually) suggested the use of “angel cards,” I sneered. For those skeptics among you who, like me, have no idea what an “angel card” is, it’s an affirmation card – something like a fortune cookie, except bigger and more directed towards making you feel really good about yourself.

Would you know it, in spite of all my skepticism, angel cards found me — sort of.

Way back (two months ago) when I was trying to figure out what paint color went where in our new home, I decided to have some fun and paint the employee bathroom in our new home with blackboard paint and keep a cup of colored chalk in there. The original idea was that Leila, Taylor, our interns and I could write secret notes to each other that would never been seen by the outside world. (The bathroom reserved for clients and customers in the boutique is in completely different room.)  But when our industry friends, our personal friends (many of whom overlap), our family (and some random other people we know) wandered back into our office, they came upon our blackboard painted bathroom and wrote wonderful notes to us!

Here are my favorite walls EVER — a never-ending source of inspiration!

It’s what we do…

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

So, it had better be good!

A couple weeks ago, Beautiful Blooms and Eclatante threw a party to celebrate the opening of our new homes on Liberties Walk — we had SUCH a great time!

The story of how Donna (owner of Beautiful Blooms) and I got to the point where we opened up shops across the walk from each other is a really nice one we’ll share one day.  Suffice to say for now, though, that when both our new homes were finally open for business, we truly felt like celebrating – and celebrate we did!

So, first up, a picture of Donna and myself taken just before the party really took off – after this shot that Marie got us to stand still long enough to snap, we barely saw each other because of all the friends and family that came to wish us well.

Of course, we couldn’t have a party without the typical reminders that we always have to be on the ball, right? It didn’t just rain that day – there were torrential downpours complete with thunder and lightening literally a couple of hours before people were going to be showing up! Of course, we had a Plan B ready to go, but it’s called “Plan B” for a reason, right? Our Plan A party was supposed to be the first gourmet cookout of the season! Here’s a shot just after the clouds finally gave way to sunshine (and Donna and I started breathing again!)

Here is the beginning of set up - ground is still wet! (and Fingers were seriously crossed!)

But the party gods were on our side (thank goodness).  Literally fifteen minutes before our last chance to invoke Plan B, a beautiful rainbow appeared and not another raindrop was felt nor clap of thunder heard!

Because my sisters and my mom couldn’t be at the party, they sent Donna and me this gorgeous arrangement — of course they had to call Donna to create it!   It meant so much to both of us that my wonderful family would think of the two of us that day!

Before I say another word about this party, I have to tell you that Donna and I both are so honored to have the friends we do   First off, Max Hansen created a feast that people are STILL raving about.   One day, someone smarter than me will figure out how to do a scratch ‘n sniff blog entry and you’d be able to tell just how amazing Max’s creations are.   I honestly do not know what that guy does to food but it is just wonderful.  Plus his team, including Rita and James, are the consummate professionals!   It is pure pleasure to work with every single one of them!

And Flour Pot Cookies provided us the yummiest and CUTEST two-bite cookies ever!

And, as always, our great friend, Marie Labbancz, never fails to provide us with the perfect memories of a great party – she took all of the photos here.   I honestly don’t know if I’d recognize Marie without a camera!

Our friends at Party Rentals Ltd, Total Table and EventQuip were so gracious to provide us with everything we needed to make this party absolutely perfect in every way.    They are incredibly good people and I am proud that they count us among their friends – -plus they do one helluva job!  Oh, and we can’t forget Claudia Seyler — she sat with us just before the party started making our hair and makeup look SOOO much better than we could have ever done ourselves!

Okay, so here are some pictures from the party.

If you don’t already know him, meet Ed Knight, the owner of EventQuip — it simply isn’t a party without him!

Here’s Leila — FINALLY letting herself enjoy the party!  (She worked so hard that day!)

Our music for the party  was by the wonderful and amazing Venissa Santi!  They were AWESOME — do yourself a favor  out their new CD! They were the perfect style for a warm evening outside among our friends and family!

Lots of people having a great time — that’s what made us so happy!   It was like this for hours!

Bart Blattstein, Tower Investments, was all smiles!

Okay, so, this is really cool.   Dave Williams of DVideography created this short and sweet Video of our little soiree.  ENJOY!

April Color Story

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

FINALLY!!!!

. . .  Spring is almost here!   We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to present our enchanting April Color Story created out of hues of Robin’s Egg Blue, White & Pink.

Welcome to the first wedding of Spring!

The absolutely adorable “City Garden” of the Please Touch Museum provided the perfect backdrop for our beautiful spring wedding.   And, of course, the incredible talent of Marie Labbancz made it possible for us to bring the best of our work to you.

Bill and Donna of Beautiful Blooms really outdid themselves with the very pretty arrangements of tulips, peonies, hydrangea and pink quince in luscious white milk glass containers and white cylinder vases.

We found perfect paper mache robin’s eggs on Etsy, which became very charming additions to the table nestled in nesting straw in milk glass containers.

The boys of VU- Events hung a lovely blue birdcage and metal lanterns and mini painted lampshades from Anthropologie, along with providing exactly the right lighting for our beautiful table.

Two Paper Dolls came through for us beautifully – as always – by creating the perfect invitations to the first wedding of Spring!

The linens were just exactly what the table called for, thanks to The Total Table.   And the beautiful place settings were provided by Party Rentals Ltd.

We just adore the bridesmaid’s gown Mary Helen Ranieri (owner of Suky Occasions) styled for our wedding.   Claudia Seyler (Claudia Seyler Beauty) styled Oksana perfectly with exactly the right hairstyle, makeup – and amazing jewelry.

And just look at that amazing bouquet created by Bill at Beautiful Blooms.

David Robison, Max & Me Catering’s Executive Chef and Theresa Linskey, the Sous Chef, prepared a divine feast complete with blue margaritas!!!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our April Color Story as much as the whole team enjoyed bringing it to you!   Stay tuned for our next installment!

And…we’re…off!!!

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Well, it’s official.   Eclatante is growing up.

We are thrilled to tell you that Eclatante is moving to a new and beautiful new space in the chic, new section of Philadelphia known as  ”Liberties Walk.”   We’re really excited!

Eclatante’s new home will be the three glass store fronts you see here along one full side of a block of Liberties Walk.  Right now, the space is very raw — as you can see from the photos (taken by our great friend Marie Labbancz).  Consider these our “before” shots!

Lots of other amazing new things are coming, too!   Stay tuned to watch the evolution from this raw space into Eclatante’s new home and for all the new things coming to our block!

Eclatante’s March Color Story

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

The inspiration for our March Color Story was my own wedding, which happened a few years ago in late March.  I’m still thrilled with the colors we chose, but, of course, new twists and turns are part of everything Eclatante does.  So, here we go with what I believe is one of our most beautiful color stories ever!

The venue for our March Color Story was the absolutely enchanting Carousel Room at the Please Touch Museum.    We all had such a great time in there (how could we not? It’s a real carousel!).  (These two photos are courtesy of the Please Touch Museum.)

So, with this as our backdrop, we brought in an amazing team of professionals who, together, worked and played so well until the way-late at night to bring you this month’s color story.  We were, again, truly fortunate to have Marie Labbancz photograph our story so that you can see just how beautiful it was!

The drop-dead gorgeous wedding gown (designed by Monique Lhuillier) and the adorable short lace party dress Oksana was wearing were delivered and styled by Mary Helen Ranieri, the owner Suky Occasions.   Claudia Seyler (Claudia Seyler Beauty) created the absolutely perfect look for Oksana, our beautiful model.

Bill and Donna of Beautiful Blooms were the ultimate perfectionists creating their gorgeous florals that adorned this fantasy perfectly.  The centerpiece consisted of three vases wrapped in white lace paper filled with a mixed arrangement of purple hydrangea, deep plum tulips, blue curiosa roses, purple double lisianthus and muscari. At the base of the vases were smaller vases with lace accents filled with muscari. The whole table was accented with navy blue skinny taper candles.

Two Paper Dolls masterfully stepped up to the plate with gorgeous periwinkle and white lace table numbers and seating cards – absolutely perfectly suited for our story.   They always get it right!

The beautiful finishing touches, including all the elegant table top pieces, and those amazing “ghost chairs” by Party Rentals Ltd. and the wonderful and perfectly coordinated linens from The Total Table – made this Color Story absolutely flawless.

Another captivating detail were the multiple streams of periwinkle satin ribbon painstakingly hung by VU- Events, who also did a fantastic job of lighting our beautiful table.

Beautiful Blooms created a lovely hand-tied bouquet of lavender hyacinths, blue curiosa roses and purple double lisianthus with a lace ribbon detail on the bouquet.

Finally, the food and wine were nothing short of phenomenal — created and beautifully presented by the chefs at Max & Me Catering.   David Robison, Max and Me’s Executive Chef and Theresa Linskey, the Sous Chef, prepared a feast of Seared Foie Gras with Ginger Cassis Sauce and Silky Onion Puree.  Unbelievable!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our March Color Story as much as the whole team enjoyed bringing it to you!

Stay tuned for our April Color Story – another stunner!

Not just a another pretty face!
